Windows 10: on October 28, 2022 Michael Andreas posted the following problem "PC name reverts back...

The referenced post does not state whether the problem was ever solved. Other posts that reference the same problem are found in on-line searches; however, no indication that issue was solved. In addition, a majority of responses ignore the statement of the problem and simply keep providing the standard procedure for changing the computer name wich is no help. My question is: What is the fix for the problem Michael Andreas posted on October 28,2022, He provided detailed information concerning how, after changing his computers name, not his user name or an account name his computer

PC name reverts back automatically

Hi Michael,

I have never seen this problem before, usually you just change the PC name and that is all that is needed, it never reverts to the previous name, was that PC ever owned by a company or organization, they may have a setting in BIOS that is forcing the PC Name.

We appreciate you getting back to us. To change the cmd name, we suggest that you follow this steps:

• Open a Command Prompt (Adimin) window: Win+X, A, Alt+Y
• Then run the following command to change your computer name to Donner: WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=COMPUTER-NAME call Rename Name=NewName
• Reboot your PC.
• Try to run ipconfig / all command, you should find that the Host Name in Windows IP Configuration list has been changed to the new name.
