Split from this thread. My name is Bart Hartman and you have shutdown my sons computer. You scheduled an Update to his computer, but it never completed, several times. The computer would just shut down. You then stated that the update did not work and you would put his computer back to the original which worked fine. But after 16 hours, it still not put it back to what it was. Now it simply says Update, but 0% completed for several hours. You have destroyed his computer. He is a home schooler and now you have destroyed his education. I tried to call, but, no, I have to write in, s

  2. Computer Shutsdown at 7 pm everynight

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

This issue might be facing because you might schedule a task in the task scheduler to shut down the computer.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

    • Right click on the start button Open command prompt as administrator.

    • Type shutdown /a ( a means "abort").

    • Enter

Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If the issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.

    Thank you.

    scheduled shutdown

    Hi,

How can I make a scheduled shutdown on startup that terminates the task if the computer is used?

    - I have scheduled a startup on BIOS every day at 8.00.
    - I created a task in Task Scheduler to run shutdown.exe on startup if the computer is not used for 15 minutes (works so far).
    - the problem is that the shutdown task is not terminated and if I leave the computer unused for a while the computer shuts down.

I struggle to find the solution to terminate the shutdown task when I start using the computer.

    The computer shutdown itself restart?

    Hi Tín,

A computer can shutdown based on the instructions given to its power settings. If you are using a laptop, there’s an option that when you are just closing a lid, it can shutdown your computer.
To ensure that we can provide the appropriate resolution to your concern, we’d like to ask you a few questions:

    • What were the recent changes made on your computer before you experienced this issue?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    • What activity are you performing that may trigger to shutdown your computer?
    • Can you provide us a screenshot of your power settings?
    • Are you using a laptop or desktop computer?

We’re looking forward to your response.
