You do not have permission to access \\PC123

    Hi,

I have 4 PCs on my home network of which 2 are running under Win7 and are part of a Home group and 2 running under Win10 that cannot join my Home group. In File Explorer on PCs running under Win7, I can see an icon named Home group. I can access each other PCs running Win7 and share its Public folder.

In the Network Folder of File Explorer, all my 4 PCs are visible on every PCs but I can access the Public folders of every PCs. In some cases I can access from a Win7 PC shared content of a Win10 PC. And on a Win10 PC, I can access shared content of a Win7 but I am denied access to content of the other Win10 PC.

Is there a way to reconfigure/reset my network so that all Win7 PCs and Win10 Pcs can share the content of each PCs Public Folder? Note that all my PCs shared folder settings are set the same.

Thanks in advance for your help

    :)

  2. cannot access file/or permissions

I have a file i need to run on Windows 7 Home Premium. I get the error message saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

So I right click and choose Properties to access the permissions but I cannot. In the Security tab I get a message saying, " You do not have permission to view or edit this objects permission settings.".

Next I boot into the Windows 7 Hidden Administrator Mode - and even with this I get all the same error messages.

Please help me as I really need to run This file.

how an administrator can give permission to access folders

    Hi John,

To provide user/s an access to folders, see the steps below on how to do so:

    • Right-click on the folder > Security.
    • Under the Group or user names option, click on the username that you want to have an access to the folder; then, click on Edit.
    • It will show you the page of permissions which you can allow or deny.
    • Choose your desired permissions and click on OK.
