Windows 10: XTU Service using a lot of RAM

Discus and support XTU Service using a lot of RAM in Windows 10 Ask Insider to solve the problem; So sometimes the xtu service in task manager uses more than 1.7gb of ram, usually it will only use a couple hundred megabytes.     So sometimes the xtu service in task manager uses more than 1.7gb of ram, usually it will only use a couple hundred megabytes. Why does this happen? If I end the task to free up ram, will it affect CPU performance?

    What is XTU service in "task manager" what is this for? Do I need to keep it....I hate the add-ons the MS updates slam onto my laptop....From what I've read XTU Service isn't a Microsoft product/;program/et al

    XTU SERVICE

    Hi Kathleern,

    I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.

    XTU is from Intel, it is used to change parameters for overclocking and other tweaks. It is not an essential service and can be uninstalled without problems.

    Win update does not install/add any Add-ins

    You update both bios and ALL drivers from the laptop maker and no where else.

    XTU service is usually a overclocking tool, something you have installed.

    Enter the bios an set it to system defaults
