Windows 10: Xbox Game Bar - Cannot Record Video

Hi,


I am having issues with the 'Xbox Game Bar' being unable to record videos.


If I try to record a video, I am given the error of "gaming features aren't available for the windows desktop or file explorer" and cannot enable video capture.


This appears to be a common issue if you search online, although there is no clear fix.


I believe the issue is related to Windows Version 202H;

• I have used this feature multiple times in the past prior to the windows 202H update successfully
• The issue is present on both my laptop and desktop both are the same version outlined below
• A colleague who has not updated to 202H is able to use the Xbox Game bar to capture videos with no issue.

Additional information:


Windows Version: 202H

OS Build: 19042.685


Trouble shooting steps undertaken:

• I have restarted the computer
• I have cleared the Microsoft store cache using Wsreset.exe
• There are no system updates available
• there are no Microsoft store updates available

Xbox Game Bar Recording

When i record with xbox game bar and after recording i watch the video and the audio is crackling and popping. Im using a inspiron 15 3000 btw. Someone please reply asap.

 

Xbox Game Bar Capture Doesn't Record Mic Audio

I understand that you are facing issues while recording microphone audio using game bar while playing games.



I would suggest you to try troubleshooting Game Bar and see if that helps. Refer the article

In addition, you can also check if the Microphone for game bar is enabled under privacy settings.

1. Go to Settings (press Windows +
   I key together) > Privacy.
   
2. On the left hand pane scroll down and look for
   Microphone.
   
3. Toggle Allow apps to access Microphone
   to ON.
   
4. Under Choose which Microsoft Store app can access your Microphone toggle Xbox game bar to
   ON.
   
5. Restart the game bar.
