Windows 10: Wireless adaptor not showing up, I have tried troubleshooting but nothing is working

Hi,My wifi icon has completely disappeared from my laptop and I cannot find the wifi adaptor in device manager. I could see it before but now it has completely disappeared and only lets me troubleshoot the ethernet connection. I have reset the network, installed and uninstalled drivers, restarted, but I can’t get the wifi to work again. The driver doesn’t even show up in device manager anymore when I select to show hidden devices.

Wireless adaptor not working?


This is the basic desktop specs I have

Dell Inspiron 660 Desktop 3rd gen Quad Core i5-3340 3.1Ghz 12G

It looks like I may have bad wireless adaptor card even though the windows diagnostics show it is fine. It is able to detect one of my routers (have 2 in the house) but is unable to connect. Had reset router multiple times and other computers in the house are able to pick up and connect fine. What are the steps/tests I should undertake to confirm the wireless adaptor card is the problem. Can I replace it myself, am ok with basic troubleshooting. Will be glad to provide more information. Please advice.

 

Wireless adaptor needs constant resetting

Neither option works for me either. I have the latest wireless adaptor drivers installed. I have run Network Adaptor troubleshooter, and when my adaptor is connected, it sates that the wireless adaptor is running fine with no problems. If my Wifi adaptor
is not connected (which often is the case) the troubleshooter manages to find the issue, reset the wireless adaptor, and it works again. However this is the issue. I should not have to continuously run this troubleshooter every time I wish to connect to
internet via the wifi adaptor.

My computer is an HP Envy DV6 with 3rd gen Intel core i7 processor, 8 gb RAM.

Any suggestions??

• What is the make and model of the Wireless USB Adaptor?
• Did you try inserting the device into another computer and check if the recognition takes place?

Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with the Bluetooth adapter. Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X, select
  Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.
  
• 
  Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.
