  1. Windows Task Scheduler not running randomly

Hi, so I have a scheduler in windows task scheduler that I want to set to run continuously so I set the Trigger to "At system start up" , "Run whether or not a user is logged in" , "run with highest privileges" and all the settings for it to continue running. It's just that sometimes it likes to suddenly stop by itself and doesn't leave any error information, how do I fix this? is there another setting that can set the scheduler to continue running?

    :)

  3. Task scheduler is not running randomly

    Hello, Steven Yuen

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

There could be several reasons why your scheduled tasks are not running as expected in Task Scheduler. Here are some common issues to consider:

    • The task settings or conditions are not configured correctly.
    • The task does not have the proper permissions or arguments.
    • Task conflicts: If you have multiple tasks scheduled to run simultaneously or at overlapping times, they might conflict with each other.
    • System inactivity: By default, Windows may not run scheduled tasks if the system is in an inactive state, such as during sleep or hibernation. Check the power settings and configure the tasks to run even when the system is idle.
    • The Task Scheduler service is disabled or not running. You can check its status in the Services management console (services.msc).
    • Some antivirus or security software can interfere with scheduled tasks. Check if any security software on your computer is blocking the execution of scheduled tasks or flagging them as potential threats.
You can review the task history and logs in Task Scheduler to see if there are any error messages or indications of why the tasks are not running. This information can help pinpoint the specific issue.

Regarding the number of tasks in Task Scheduler, there is generally no specific limit on the number of tasks you can set up. However, it's essential to consider the resources (CPU, memory, disk usage) required by your tasks collectively. If you have too many tasks running simultaneously, it could potentially strain your system's resources and affect the performance of other processes.

As for the Windows version, while an outdated version could potentially have compatibility issues or bugs, Task Scheduler is a core component of Windows and should work properly in most versions. However, it's generally recommended to keep your operating system up to date with the latest security patches and updates to ensure optimal performance.

If you're still experiencing issues with Task Scheduler, providing more specific details about your tasks, Windows version, and any error messages received would be helpful in troubleshooting the problem further.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

    Best regards

    Yuhao Li

  4. Windows Task Scheduler not running randomly

    Unable to run Task Scheduler

    Hello Varun,

Let's determine the cause of the issue. To get started, I'd like to get the following information:

    • Is this your first time to encounter this issue? If so, did you make any changes to your computer's configuration prior to this?
    • Are you getting any error messages?
    • Can you also please confirm the current build of your Windows 10?

(Type winver into the Cortana search box, then hit
      Enter
      .)

Meanwhile, I suggest that you try starting the Task Scheduler through command line. To do so, please follow these steps:

    • Open Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type this net start task scheduler and hit Enter.

We're looking forward to your response.
