Convert Windows Server 2012 R2 Evaluation to Windows Server 2012 R2

I have purchased the product key of Windows Server 2012 R2. Now the server is on Windows Server 2012 R2 Evaluation. I found a few links there they explained on how to convert from Windows Server 2012 R2 Evaluation to Windows Server 2012 R2 with valid product

Is this a correct way to do? If I follow this step, will my data be erased?

I want to avoid formatting/fresh Windows install because there are some software in the server that we do not know how to backup. We just want to get it activated now, backup will be sorted out later.

 

Facing Error During Upadation of Windows Server 2012 R2

Hello,

I am trying to update windows Server 2012 R2 Standard but showing error during checking update process.

Error is :- Code 80072EFD Windows Update ran into a problem.

So please suggest that what can I do further process for this issue.

Issue with KB4525243 catalog update download for Windows Server 2012 R2

I downloaded the Security Monthly Quality Rollup for November 2019 (Microsoft Update Catalog) for Windows Server 2012 R2.

It does not install 'because of error 2148468785'. This apparently means that the update is not applicable for Windows Server 2012 R2.

Running Windows update - kb452524 does appear and installs but it is a different size.

It looks like the link on the catalog.update page is to the Windows 8.1 version not the Windows Server 2012 R2 version.

Is it possible to download the Windows Server 2012 R2 version of kb452524? (Perhaps through Windows Update that does seem to find the correct version or getting the link fixed (if that is the problem) or some other means.)
