Windows 10: Windows Photo App deleted majority of my iCloud Photos + How upload legacy pc photos to iCloud

I am getting a new iPhone so I wanted to enable iCloud Photos. It removed Finder photos already syncd via iTunes and reside on file system. Then it successfully transferred my Recent Photos, Videos, Favorites, Live, Panorama etc... I checked on my phone and iCloud.com and all was well.Somehow I end up on the new Photos App. I didn't know there was a new one. I thought I was doing an import. Not sure. Bottomline it started to process photos. In this case it was deleting them.Then I read up and found this new App is synced with iCloud. Why ??So, it removed half of my iCloud photos. I stopped i

How to Upload Folders of Photos to Albums on iCloud?

I'm trying to determine the best way to migrate multiple folders of photos on Windows 10 to iCloud.

Currently, I'm copying each folder of photos to the iCloud Photos\Uploads folder, which successfully uploads the photos to iCloud, however, the photos do not appear in albums and are therefore no longer grouped.

Is there a way to upload a folder of photos so that it appears in an album on iCloud, or do I have to manually create the album and move the photos into it after uploading?

Also, after uploading the folder of photos, should I delete the folder from the Uploads folder?

 

Icloud photos not synched with windows 10

Hi I have tried to sync icloud photos with windows 10 PC (originally installed in windows 7). However the icloud upload and download folders remain empty even after restart/reinstall of icloud. According to notifications icloud photos should be updated - but that's not correct as nothing has been updated. Have talked to apple support, so far no solution. Manual download from icloud works fine if you e.g. start icloud under chrome, so issue is only automatic sync. Also I have verified that automatic sync works fine if you use a PC installed in windows 10. Setup: Windows 10 PC lan attached with latest updates and avast AV Icloud installed via MS store as prescribed by Apple. Br Peter

 

No iCloud Photos in thenew Photos app

Please let me know if you have downloaded icloud from Microsoft store.

Follow the steps after downloading:

1) Open the iCloud for Windows app

2) Sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID

3) Then choose Photos on the iCloud app to view your iCloud media in the Photos app.

4) Open or go back to the Photos app and go to the iCloud tab. You will be able to see all your iCloud content.
