Windows 10: Windows Media Player Legacy SYNC tab has disappeared

As of "2024-10 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems KB5044384" the sync tab on my Windows Media Player has disappeared. I have already had to restore Windows photo viewer, but this fix eludes me. I have tried restoring the program from an old hard drive with win 7 but this did not work.It's play, burn, and SYNC. My player is plugged in, it shows that my computer recognizes it and I can otherwise access the files. I just synced files and a playlist to my Sansa a couple of days ago and now the tab is gone. Any help or suggestions for alternate third p

Windows Legacy Media Player -> Windows Media Player 12

Found a description of how to upgrade the Windows Legacy Media Player to Windows Media Player 12, viz:

1. Click the Start button, type features, and then select Turn Windows features on or off.
   
2. Expand Media Features and see whether the Windows Media Player check box is selected. If it is, clear the check box.
   
3. Click OK and then restart your PC. This will remove your current version of Windows Media Player.
   
4. After your PC has restarted, repeat step 1.
   
5. Expand Media Features and select the Windows Media Player check box.
   
6. Click OK and then restart your PC. This will reinstall the latest version of Windows Media Player for your system (Windows Media Player 12, with a few exceptions).
   

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work for me. Keeps REINSTALLING the Legacy Media Player.

Am I doing something wrong. Is there a better way. Couldn't find a place to DOWNLOAD Media Player 12.

 

I'm stuck for the media player legacy calculating sync

Hi, my name is Laketa Covington and I just got sony walkman nw-zx507 mp3 player but, I'm stuck for calculating sync for windows media player legacy.

Could you help me how to fix it??? I just stuck for the windows media player legacy to sync the music.

Windows Media Player 12 - Sync List Empty

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

If your device's storage capacity is more than 4 gigabytes (GB), and your entire Player Library can fit on the device, Windows Media Player will automatically sync unless you choose to manually sync. If you keep the automatic sync option, you
can either choose which files to sync or you can have the entire Player Library copied to the device.

Every time you connect your device to your PC while Windows Media Player is running, the Player automatically updates the contents of the device to mirror the contents of the Player Library.

However, if you are not seeing the list of songs under the Sync tab, I would suggest you to try these steps and check again:

1. Open Windows Media Player and click the sync tab.

2. Go to the folder where the songs are stored.

3. Select all the songs, left click on the highlighted songs and drag it to Windows media player under “sync”

Let us know if you get the same result.

You can also try to directly add the songs manually by following the steps below:

1. Press Windows key + E to open file explorer.

2. Click "This PC" on the left pane.

3. Double click the phone and locate the folder where the songs are stored.

Copy and paste the desired songs in this particular folder

I also suggest you to Run the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter and check, if the issue persists.

Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

a. Press “Windows key” on your keyboard.

b. Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under Settings.

c. Now select Programs in the search option.

d. Under Media Player, select Windows Media Player Settings to run the troubleshooter.
