Windows 10: Windows Keeps Freezing, Requiring a Hard Reboot - Event Viewer says it is WaaSMedicSvc

In Event Viewer, the error is:The activation of the CLSID {xxxx} timed out waiting for the service WaaSMedicSvc to stop.This error repeats every 5 minutes exactly until I hard reboot. During that time, the computer cannot be used at all, the screen freezes, audio freezes, and the computer no longer responds to any input. Windows Update doesn't show that there are any pending or failed updates. This began happening a couple days ago and has happened multiple times now.

Hi,

Windows 10 keeps freezing on me and requires a hard reboot (hold the power button). How can I pin point what's causing the freezes, there's no app in particular that's causing it, can happen after log in or can take hours, nothing is jumping out at me in
system viewer, I've tried hd tests and ram tests and no problem encountered, tried taking out graphics card, swapping for different ram.

What's my next step?

The SoftwareDistribution folder is where the data of Windows Update are stored. You only rename this folder if you're encountering an issue with Windows Update. Since you're not encountering any Windows Update issues, there is no need to rename the SoftwareDistribution
folder.

The Event ID 1101 is occurring when there are too many events being logged in the Security log. Because of the numerous events, your computer cannot handle it and that can be the reason why your computer is freezing. We recommend that you clear files inside
Event Viewer to free up some disk space. To do this follow these steps:

• Search for Event Viewer using the Cortana search bar.
• Select Event Viewer.
• Click File, and the choose Options....
• Select Delete Files.
• Click Apply, and then click OK.

I suggest you re-install the video driver. I'll add a few words of explanation about Event viewer in a moment. They won't affect the need to reinstall that driver as your first step. Denis
