  1. Windows Hello: How to use smart card to verify account info?

How do I force Windows Hello to use smart card instead of password to verify my account info? When activating account protection through facial/finger recognition, PIN or picture, I need to verify my account. The problem is that we only use smart card in my organisation and have deactivated password.

  2. Smart Card login accounts?

Are Smart Card logins to authenticate to login into Windows considered a Local User account or is it still a Domain User account?

Supposed a user gets provided a CAC or a PIV card to insert to their Smart Card reader to authenticate or logon to their Windows account, is it a Local Account that they use or a Domain account?

  3. Require Windows Hello or smart card

    Hello

When I enabled security policy Interactive logon: Require Windows Hello or smart card with enabled service "Windows Hello" and configured Domain Logon with bio (fingerprint), I can't logon with Hello, only smart-card.

    What did I do wrong?

    Used Windows 10 1703 (15063.447)

Windows Hello: How to use smart card to verify account info?

    Insert Smart Card Prompt

After logging in, Insert Smart Card pops up 4 times in a row and has to be closed. I have disabled smartcard services and verified, the non-force options in the registry. The only other information I could find indicates I should use gpedit.msc to modify
the administrative group policy. This is not an option on windows 10 home.

Also verifying the documentation, the following registry elements are non-existent.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...smart-card-group-policy-and-registry-settings

The above links claims these should exist for Windows 10, clearly they do not mean home.

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\ScPnP\EnableScPnP
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\SmartCardCredentialProvider
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CertProp

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you,
