Windows 10: Windows Hello Facial Recognition Suddenly Stopped Working -- April 2025

I have been using Windows Hello Facial Recognition for years with my primary camera covered I only uncover it for things like Zoom and Teams. Until a few days ago, Facial Recognition unlocked my Surface Pro 7 and worked for passkeys perfectly. Now it stopped working, telling me I couldn't be recognized and to sign in using my pin. Doing a little exploring and experimenting, I discovered that it still works fine as long as I uncover the regular camera. What changed? It's annoying to have to remove my camera cover every time I return to my Surface. Is there a way to fix this?Surface Pro 7Proce

Windows hello facial recognition has stopped working,biometrics missing.

Window Hello facial recognition has stopped working .I have tried all the advice I can find on the web to fix it ,but have managed to remove the biometrics from the device manager list. I've searched for a replacement download but couldn't find anything.
I'm using a Surface Pro 4. Any Suggestions?

We need to do further investigation on your concern so that we will know why the facial recognition quit working:

• Have you recently made any changes/updates prior to this issue?
• Is there an error message when you try to sign using facial recognition?
• What is the make and model of your computer?

In the meantime, I would suggest that you perform the troubleshooting steps in this

trying to turn off the Facial Recognition feature for Windows Hello or for the
Windows 10 Camera app?

If you are requesting to turn off the Facial Recognition feature for Windows Hello, you can follow these steps:

• Go to Settings.
• Select Accounts.
• Click Sign-in options.
• Under Picture password, click Remove.
