  1. Windows Event Logs- No Security logs No Registry Key for Security Logs

Hello,I don't know how but I just noticed that I could not view Security Logs from Event Viewer---I cannot even attempt to edit the properties ---I tried entering the path to System32 for the Security.evtx but "Apply" was still greyed out and clicking OK never saved that setting.I also cannot find the Security Key in my Registry ---I have tried sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth with several reboots, none of that has worked.Plz help!Could the fix be this --> Could someone just provide me the Security Key and Subkeys so Windows Event Log will "magically" start workin

    :)

Eventviewer adding Windows defender logs over Security logs

I want to add Windows defender logs over Security logs inside the event viewer. How can I do this? Is it possible doing this form registry? If I can change the windows defender log location to %SystemRoot%\System32\Winevt\Logs\Security.evtx it will write defender logs over Security logs.

    Thanks

I am researching security log on my Windows 7 computer. Added column User. But this column lists

only 'N/A'. Why and how to display a real user name?

thousands of security logs in event viewer

    Hello @mibaup,

Run the command below in a CMD Prompt to list the total entries for EACH log . . .
    Code:
    Example output . . .
    Code:
You could then run it AGAIN after about 5 minutes to see if there is a VAST difference in the totals. This should hopefully highlight any unusually drastic operations taking place, if ANY.

    Just a thought.

The command in PowerShell [ if you prefer ] is . . .
    Code:
    I hope this helps.
