Windows 10: WINDOWS DOWNLOAD FOLDER NOT RESPONDING

Hi there, i cannot open my downloads folder in file explorer! have followed the previous solution and still did not work, neither did any of the youtube tutorials regarding command prompt etc. Looking forward to hear back soon !

Downloads folder not responding

Windows 10 Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3324) My Downloads folder is not responding, it just has a spinning circle & says "working on it". After a long time, I have to shut it down through Task Manager. I had this problem maybe 6 months ago & fixed it using SFC. This time I ran SFC where it found & repaired corrupted files, but the Downloads folder still didn't respond. So I ran SFC again & it found no integrity violations. What is the next step in fixing the Downloads folder problem? Do I need to run DISM? If so, should I backup my computer before doing this? Please give specific instructions, as I'm not a "computer person". Thanks very much!

 

Download folder not responding

I recently tried to download a video and since then I can't open the Download folder. I want to delete the file which I suspect must be corrupt, but every time I open the Downloads folder, it says "working on it" and the Download folder is "Not responding".
I'd like to delete all the contents of the folder.

Any suggestions?

 

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.
