This problem just occurred today, and I haven't been able to solve it. Also maybe because of this, my Hard Disk is not responding like it is not showing when I click on this PC or even with the command prompt. When I started my PC today, it just showed while booting that an error occurred and Windows needs to restart, right from the booting stage. After that, it took a long time for it to finish. Then, when I finally got to my home screen, I was greeted with the Windows created a temporary paging file pop-up.I have restarted my computer several times, and every time the pop-up is there and my Ha

"Windows created a temporary paging file" pop up when I start my computer

[System Properties] Windows created a temporary paging file.

I've had this problem for many weeks now, but I haven't been able to solve it.

Here's what I've tried to do so far (original post: here):

    1. Click Start, right-click Computer, and select Properties
    2. In the left pane, select Advanced system settings
    3. On the Advanced tab, click the Settings button under Performance
    4. On the Advanced tab, click the Change button under Virtual memory
    5. Clear the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives check box and check No paging file
    6. Click Set button next to No paging file
    7. Click OK on all open windows and restart your machine
    8. Open up Windows Explorer
    9. Navigate to the root of your system drive (C:\)
    10. Enable the showing of System Files
      1. On the View menu, click Options
      2. On the View tab, click Show All Files, and then click OK
    11. Delete the pagefile.sys file

After step 11, hit the Windows Key + R and type in 'Regedit' - This will bring you the the Registry Editor.

GO TO - 'Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management'. DELETE EVERYTHING IN THE RIGHT PANEL! Note that you cannot delete '(Default)', or at least I couldn't, so just hit OK or whatever when it says that you can't delete it.

Now continue with the rest of the guide above, except instead of leaving the 'No paging file' box check, click on custom paging file size instead. For me, I did 1000 for min and 2000 for max. This is what worked for me. I don't want to fiddle around with these numbers because they worked for me and I don't want to risk having to do this over kek.

After clicking on Custom Paging File Size or whatever and you put in the numbers, MAKE SURE TO CLICK SET, AND BE SURE TO CHECK THE 'AUTOMATICALLY MANAGE PAGING FILE SIZE FOR ALL DRIVERS' CHECKBOX - which is located at the top of the window.
    12. Click Start, right-click Computer, and select Properties
    13. In the left pane, select Advanced system settings
    14. On the Advanced tab, click the Settings button under Performance
    15. On the Advanced tab, click the Change button under Virtual memory
    16. Check the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives checkbox and click OK
    17. Restart your machine
I did it twice. The first time I was able to find pagefile.sys in C:\. But after doing all the steps I restarted my laptop and the pop up keep showing. A couple of weeks later I did it again, this time I couldn't even find pagefile.sys, even though every time I start my computer I get the "Windows created a temporary paging file..." pop-up

    Thanks in advance!

How do I resolve the error message: Windows created a temporary paging file on your computer

I booted my machine, and suddenly got this pop-up:

When I close the pop-up, I see the Performance dialog saying Total paging file size for all drives: 0 MB. I've never changed pagefile settings, and the Change... button shows that it's set to Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.

I've tried to set to the different settings belowand reboot, but always got the same popup:

    1. Select drive, set to system manage size
    2. Select drive, set to No paging file
    3. Custom size: Initial: 5000MB, Maximum: 10000MB

    This answers.microsoft.com post suggests I:

    • Disable pagefile - Even if I do, I get the same pop-up
    • Delete c:\pagefile.sys - can't get deleted
    • Set partition pagefile attribute using DISKPART - but HELP ATTRIBUTES DISK says READONLY is currently the only disk flag that may be changed.

    Specs

    • Machine: Lenovo X230, 16GB RAM
    • Disk: Samsung Evo 850, formatted as a single C: drive.
    • OS: Windows 10 (version 1511) 64-bit
