Windows 10: Windows 11 - Remote Desktop stuck on "Estimating connection Quality"

Hi all,I'm having a problem with remote desktop getting stuck on the "Estimating connection quality" stage, but what's strange is that this is only affecting Windows 11 PCs within my organisation. Has anyone experienced this problem specifically with Windows 11 whilst seemingly not affecting Windows 10 machines at all? So far, I've established that using a WiFi connection on 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz or a LAN cable makes no difference. I appreciate any help on this matter.Kind Regards,Joe

Remote Desktop Connection stuck on "configuring remote session" on Windows 11 only

Hi,

I'm having an issue where Remote Desktop Connection is stuck on the message "Configuring remote session."

I have not had this issue with this remote desktop on Windows 10 or running Microsoft Remote Desktop on MacOS, so I'm not sure what the issue in Windows 11 could be. I tried to open this same desktop using Microsoft Remote Desktop, but am kicked out with an error saying that I have initiated a remote connection elsewhere (even though this is not the case).

My IT department seems to suggest that RDC just won't work with Windows 11, but I have a hard time believing that is the case since Remote Desktop Connection was preinstalled on this system. Thanks in advance for any potential solutions.

 

Remote Desktop Connection problems


Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
   • Network Location - Set as Home, Work, or Public Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
   • Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) - Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:
   • IP Address - Locate and Find for Your Computer - Windows 7 Help Forums
4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
   • RDC - Connect Remotely to your Windows 10 PC - Windows 10 Forums
   • Notice that although the tutorial is written for Windows 10, it also applies to Windows 7

Try the above, post back how it went.

Okay guys need some help here before going crazy...
I am trying to setup a remote desktop connection and see exactly what the logged on user is looking at with out going through Windows Remote Desktop.

Since its local network I don't have any password or want to setup a password.

Any suggestions are appreciated
