  1. Windows 11: Mouse single click acts as a double click.

Since the latest cumulative update for Windows 11 2023-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based systems KB5033375, my mouse sometimes performs a double click instead of a single click. It happens with every mouse I connect to my PC ASUS TUF Dash F15 FX517ZR regardless of the port. It's interesting that it only happens when clicking on an element, and not when I hold down the click to drag and drop.I don't know if the problem is because I use custom cursors .cur, although sometimes the cursor starts to shake randomly.Initially I thought it was a hardware problem wh

Mouse started double clicking on single click file randomly.

    Hi KathZ,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Could you please help me with the below questions:

    • Which version of Windows you are using? (To check, type: winver in start menu and hit enter.)
    • Does this issue occur on a different mouse?

This issue happens, if there is mouse/hardware issue or it can be settings issue. I would suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps as mentioned below:

    Method 1: Restore the defaults.

    1. Press Windows
and E key together on your Keyboard.
    2. Go to View tab on the top.
    3. Click on Options > Click on Change folder and Search options.
    4. Click on Restore Defaults.
      Click on Apply and Ok.

Method 2: Change the Mouse settings.

    1. Click on the Settings icon from the start menu.
    2. Click on Devices > Click on Mouse from the left panel of the window.
    3. Click on Additional Mouse Options from the right pane.
    4. This will open the Mouse Properties window, go to Buttons tab.
    5. Under the Double click speed, drag the slider to the left to slow down the double click speed.
    6. Next, go to Pointer options tab, uncheck the "Enhance Pointer Precision" to
disable pointer precision to slow down the mouse.

For more information, I would suggest you to follow the
    steps
provided in the post on 'Windows 10 mouse has started double clicking on single click randomly'.

    Hope it helps.

  3. How to stop mouse double clicking on single *physical* click

I recently upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Since the moment I started Windows 11 single physical clicks intermittently trigger a double click in

Windows. This happens in Explorer, games and Excel.

    Things I have tried:

    1. I have the latest mouse drivers from the manufacturer
    2. I have disabled power saver on all mice in Device Manager
    3. I have deleted all mice in Device Manager and rebooted
    4. This has nothing to do with the single click to open setting in explorer as this happens in games and applications
    5. The mouse works fine on my Windows 10 laptop
    6. I have tried multiple USB ports including ones on my motherboard and others on my PC front panel
    7. I have tried using USB 3 and USB 2 ports

There are a couple of things we can do to solve your concern. We suggest to follow the steps below:

    • Type Specify single- or double-click to open in the search box, then press
      Enter.
    • Look for Click item as follows, then select the radio button that says
Single-click to open an item (point to select).
    • Click Apply, then OK.
