Windows 10: Windows 11 Media Player Legacy won't Autoply consecutive songs,

Forced to upgrade to a new computer and Windows 11, Media Player Legacy won't autoplay consecutive songs or shuffle. Exhausted, I've spent hours trying, turning on and off autoplay, in settings, in control panel, in apps multiple times, restarted, and upgraded, shell services, etc, I've tried every suggestion I can find on the internet. NOTHING WORKS. The new downgraded verision of M/P has no option to add rating stars, views, or columns, even though it is a valuable tool for many of us. Why does Windows Media Player Legacy mix unrated songs with rated songs when ordering by rating?

When ordering songs by ratings Windows Media Player Legacy mixes unrated songs with rated songs instead of keeping them separate (at the end or start of the list). Any way to fix this?

This is on Windows 11 Pro 23H2 OS Build 22631.3296 with all recommended updates.

 

Windows Legacy Media Player -> Windows Media Player 12

Found a description of how to upgrade the Windows Legacy Media Player to Windows Media Player 12, viz:

1. Click the Start button, type features, and then select Turn Windows features on or off.
   
2. Expand Media Features and see whether the Windows Media Player check box is selected. If it is, clear the check box.
   
3. Click OK and then restart your PC. This will remove your current version of Windows Media Player.
   
4. After your PC has restarted, repeat step 1.
   
5. Expand Media Features and select the Windows Media Player check box.
   
6. Click OK and then restart your PC. This will reinstall the latest version of Windows Media Player for your system (Windows Media Player 12, with a few exceptions).
   

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work for me. Keeps REINSTALLING the Legacy Media Player.

Am I doing something wrong. Is there a better way. Couldn't find a place to DOWNLOAD Media Player 12.

 

Windows Media Player Legacy does not work.

I cannot play songs on Windows Media Player Legacy unless the mouse is hovering on the song title. I don't like the new media player. How can I get Windows Media Player Legacy to work?
