    Windows 11- File icon with brown box cannot be open.


    Dear Microsoft Support,Do you know why the files show this icon and how to remove it? My colleague cannot open files with this brown box on left corner of file's icon.User's os version:Microsoft Windows 11 Enterprise10.0.22621 N/A Build 22621

    Brown box in the icon next to the files

    I can't open any files in Word (Windows 11). I understand that the brown box in the icon of the file is not allowing me to open it. I checked responses to a similar problem but I don't understand the answers. I am computer almost illiterate and do not understand technical language. Is there a way to describe the sequence of how to get rid of the brown box in a layperson terms? Thank you.

    Files have a brown box on their icon and dont open in Windows 11

    What is going on here? There is no information anywhere so it obviously isnt a problem for everyone.

    Most of my files stored on Dropbox now have a small brown file box icon on the lower left corner of the main icon for all MS Office files. They open perfectly well on the phone and a laptop running Windows 10 but not on my laptop running Windows 11.

    I get an error message saying the program cant open it because the file is unsupported or may be corrupt.

    Why the **** do they release an OS that doesn't work with their own programs??
