Windows 10: Windows 11 - Disable Expand Folder in Navigation Pane of File Explorer.

Hi,I have tried all the options from this linkhttps://www.elevenforum.com/t/turn-on-or-off-expand-folder-in-navigation-pane-of-file-explorer-in-windows-11.2544/If I open my File Explorer through Windows, it works correctly it doesn't expand .However if I open my File Explorer through an application it opens a window with expanded folders on the left panelExamples of use case : - In Firefox : Download -> select a downloaded file -> Show in Folder- in Visual Studio, right click on a file -> Open Containing Folder- In Notepad++ , right click a file -> Open Into -> Open Containin

I don't have Quick Access... it's removed on my computer.
Maybe if you pin the Volume (E shortcut to Quick Access..... it will work on the left side.
I don't know. Mine looks like this...







You may have to wait for someone that "uses" Quick Access and/or all those weird folders on the left side.
I do all my navigating on the right side.


First thing I do when I install Win 10 or 11... is remove all the weird folders in the Navigation Pane (left side).
I don't like them. I don't see the need for them... etc.

My Win 11 looks exactly the same... except for the ribbon bar...

And if I ever need those weird folders, I know right where they are... C:\Users\<user name>

 

File Explorer navigation pane sometimes expands to show all folders and sometimes consolidates shows only the selected folder

Both the folders that expand fully and those that partially expand have exactly the same settings, which are as you suggested, so this didn't solve the problem. Any other ideas?

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

• Under which drive are you not able to view the sub folders?
• Are you not able to expand the options from navigation pane of the File explorer?

This seems to be a temporary issue. Sometimes disabling and enabling some of the options will fix the issue.



Follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Open File explorer by pressing Windows key + E keys on the keyboard.
• Click on View tab located at the top of the window.
• Click on Navigation pane and uncheck Navigation pane option.
• Close the window, follow the above steps from a to
  c, only this time check the option Navigation pane and check if the changes are effective.
