  1. Windows 11 Device Ignoring LAPS Policy Settings

I'm encountering an issue with Windows LAPS on a Windows 11 device where the managed account password is rotating on every restart and gpupdate, despite the policy being set to rotate the password every 30 days. After doing some research, I've also tried setting the PostAuthenticationResetDelay registry setting to 1, but this hasn't resolved the issue.Multiple Windows 11 devices have been tested to ensure this issue is applicable to all Windows 11 devices. After manually triggering a gpupdate, I see the following message in the LAPS Operational event log:Event ID 10015 - The managed accou

  3. How to stop Windows Update ignoring settings and restarting overnight

I apologize that the previous methods did not work for you. Here are some additional steps you could try:

Method 1: Disabling Windows Update Using a Third-Party Tool

O&O ShutUp10++ and Wu10Man are compatible with Windows 11. These tools provide an interface to manage and disable Windows Update features more effectively.

    • O&O ShutUp10++:
      • Download and run the tool.
      • It provides settings specifically for Windows 11, allowing you to disable updates and other telemetry options.
      • Apply recommended settings for disabling Windows updates.
    Method 2: Network Settings

Setting your network connection to Metered works in Windows 11 as well.

    1. Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi (or Ethernet).
    2. Select your network and toggle on Set as metered connection.
This will limit Windows Update from automatically downloading updates over this network.

    Method 3: Local Security Policy

If you have access to Local Security Policy editor, you can create software restriction policies.

    1. Open Local Security Policy (secpol.msc).
    2. Navigate to Software Restriction Policies.
    3. Create new policies if not present.
    4. Add a new Path Rule:
      • Path: C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs
      • Security level: Disallowed

Additional Method: Group Policy Editor on Windows 11 Home

For users with Windows 11 Home, enabling Group Policy Editor can be done through various methods found online, but it's not officially supported. However, there are scripts available that can install the Group Policy Editor on Windows 11 Home, allowing more granular control over updates.

    Using "Windows Update Blocker"

Another tool specifically designed to block Windows Updates:

    • Windows Update Blocker: This small utility allows you to disable Windows updates completely with a simple interface.

Please try these additional steps and let me know if they help resolve your issue!

Windows 11 22H2 Ignoring "Listen to this device" Setting on Startup

    Hello Brandon Hollowell,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

After you upgraded to Windows 11 22H2, "Listen to this device" was ignored when you started your computer, right? And your listen to this device is already checked (as below).

I understand that Windows 11 22H2 is a preview version, were you using a full version of the system before this problem appeared?

I think this problem may be cause by the incompatibility between device drivers and the system after you upgrade the system, resulting in not being able to hear the audio.

Therefore, I suggest you go to Device Manager and uninstall the mainboard driver first, then get a Windows 11 preview compatible mainboard driver from the manufacturer of this computer to install.

    Reinstall the device driver

    1. In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.
    2. Right-click (or press and hold) the name of the device, and then select Uninstall.
    3. Manually install the motherboard driver
    4. Restart your PC.
If the motherboard driver package does not contain the sound card driver, please obtain the sound card driver from the device manufacturer for installation.

Please feel free to let me know if you got any further updates.

    Best Regards,
