    I recently installed Radmin VPN, which added a high-metric default route and set its virtual adapter's interface metric to 0. Unfortunately so long as I keep the fake default route to 26.0.0.1, my internet connection is slowed as it for some reason tries that route first. I have the metric for that route set to 9999 +1 from interface and my metric for my Ethernet gateway is 0 +25 from interface. According to documentation and everything else I know this means that it should choose to direct all non-local and non-VPN packets through the Ethernet, but...If I configure the Radmin VPN Interfac

    Recently I faced a scenario where the routing table had two entries for default route and that too with same metric. After doing some research, I found that if we configure same adapter metric manually for WiFi and Ethernet then we will have two default
    route with the same metric in the routing table.

    IPv4 Route Table

    Hi Experts,

    I have a question for windows machine in general but I decided to post the question on windows 10 section.

    If we refer to the below link posted by Microsoft before:

    The Automatic Metric feature for IPv4 routes - Windows Server

    They mentioned the criteria used to specify the Metric value for the routes. Mainly it depends on the adapter speed. But if we look at the routing table for any PC "windows XP, 7, 8 adn 10" we can see that it has many routes with high METRIC like 286.

    My question is, what is the algorithm used to automatically calculate the metric on windows machine ? Why we can see such high metric value like this.

    Your help is really appreciated.

    Wifi metrics to 5

    I've just set my WiFi metric to 3 and restarted... and it's stuck. I can't think why you can't do the same without the changed values reverting.

    Are you using Windows Defender or another security product (in case it's accepting a temporary change during your user session but preventing permanent storage of the changed values)?

    In one of his tutorials, Brink suggests "Worse case, you should be able to remove the networks from the computers, and then set them back up again to sort it." Perhaps disconnect WiFi, uninstall the adapter then restart as an alternative to a factory reset?
