Windows 10: Windows 10 PC immediately disconnects from Samsung Smart TV

Hello,

I've seen other threads on the subject like this and followed the suggested article to no avail, so I can't help but post a question.

I have a Win10 desktop PC connected with Ethernet and WiFi to the same network as the smart TV. The PC has an additional WiFi PCI-Express card installed, as well as a dedicated graphics card AMD RX-480 and two monitors. As far as I can tell, it doesn't have a bluetooth peripheral but it shouldn't be an issue since as far as I know the connection should happen over WiFi.

I can see the TV under the available devices to connect to in the notification manager. I try to connect to the TV, but after a varying amount of wait time, I see for a split second a black screen with cursor on the TV and then I am notified that the connection failed.


Troubleshooting steps

I tried connecting to the same TV with two laptops and succeeded without any issue, so the TV definitely supports Miracast.
I tried plugging out the ethernet cable and running the desktop PC on WiFi same network as the TV.
I tried creating a new Samsung account on the PC to "authorize" the connection?.
I tried to restart after installing Connect.
I tried to disable the Windows Firewall.

I tried to connect via "Wireless screen" from Settings instead of via the Notification Center -> Connect or Project buttons.

I tried to "reconnect" after a connection fails.

All to no avail.



Problem experienced


The connection process starts, I can see that the TV is trying to receive signal, but after the black screen the TV reverts to the previous content.

On my PC I can see a blue flicker and a "connected" notification, but immediately after I see another flicker, a short black screen and then the screen content is restored and the top bar in my PC says "disconnected". If I try to "reconnect" from the top bar it fails and says that there was an error. A "There's a problem - unable to connect the device" notification is also added to the notification manager with the input prompt to allow remote input from the TV.


I installed Connect version 10.0.19041.1 and it says that my device is ready for wireless connection, but may have problem when displaying content because the hardware wasn't specifically designed for wireless display. For reference, my laptop's Connect screen doesn't complain.
In the first bout of tries, in the device manager I could see the smart TV under Miracast devices and its drivers were up to date.

What is going wrong here? Am I missing some HW to make this work? Are there logs I can check to retrieve more intel on the issue?

I can attach a DxDiag report for the desktop PC if needed.

Connect a desktop pc to a Samsung smart tv

I'm trying to connect a older Desktop pc with Window 10 to my Samsung f8000 smart tv via wifi or LAN. My desktop pc is ethernet cabled to the Sky home hub and the smart tv ethernet cabled to the hub as well. My smart tv appears in the connected devices
list but it doesn't seem to connecting, is it because I need a wireless dongle??

 

Projecting to Samsung Smart TV

I am having trouble when projecting from my Lenovo laptop to my Samsung Smart TV in Windows 10. I'm able to connect to the tv and extend my screen. I drag over the chrome window and start the video. About 10-15 minutes in, it disconnects.

1. The tv has been updated with the latest software (it's actually on auto updates)
2. The laptop is on the latest software
3. The laptop is set to go to sleep after 2hrs on battery, Never when plugged in and the pc should not disconnect from network when on battery
4. The laptop is connected to the router via power outlet so it's a hard line connection essentially. It doesn't seem to disconnect from the network when it disconnects from the TV. It shows that it's disconnecting with a notice on the tv and then goes back
   to Directv.
5. The laptop is about 9 feet from the tv and is a straight shot. It's not being moved when it disconnects.
6. I have reviewed the Samsung setup and haven't found anything that jumped out at me
