  1. Windows 10 Location incorrect, affecting Time Zones

My time zone has not allowed me to change it for a while now. It thinks I am about 1000 miles from where I currently am. This is a problem because my clock is an hour off when daylight savings falls back. I can change the time on the clock if I set the time manually, but things like Opera GX still don't update. Is there a fix to this?

    :)

  2. Windows puts me in the wrong time zone, wrong location

Thank you for the detailed answer. Here's what I've done with your instructions.

    • CMOS battery was replaced by Dell this week.
    • I do not believe I have a system restore point enabled.
    • Windows location services were already on.
    • I had already cleared my location history, I did it again, did not fix the problem.
    • I cleared my Microsoft account location history, did not fix the problem.
    • I note that the Microsoft Maps app shows me in the wrong location -- Albuquerque, NM. I reset the app, no improvement. I deleted the app, no improvement.
    • I tried Bing Maps. It first shows my default location, then zooms to that same location in Albuquerque, NM. I reported a problem with my location via feedback.
    • After all these steps, enabling Automatic Time Zone immediately changes me to Mountain Time Zone (incorrect), instead of Pacific Time Zone (correct).

My children have told me this would not be a problem with a Mac. Beginning to agree. Is my next stop Microsoft support? I haven't had good luck there in the past.

  3. Location and Time Zone

    Hi Alessandro,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your location and time zone settings in Windows 11. Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try:

    - Windows Time Service: Ensure that the Windows Time service is running and set to automatic. You can check this by typing `services.msc` in the run dialog and looking for the Windows Time service⁵.

    - Manual Time Zone Setting: If automatic settings don't work, try setting the time zone manually through the device settings.

    For the Time Zone:

    1. Go to Start > Settings > Time & language > Date & time.

    2. Turn off the Set time zone automatically toggle switch.

    3. Manually select the correct time zone from the drop-down menu.

    For the Location:

    1. Open Control Panel.

    2. Click on Clock, Language, and Region.

    3. Click on Change location under Region.

    4. Choose Portugal from the drop-down menu and click OK.

    - System File Checker (SFC) and DISM: Run the System File Checker (SFC) and Deployment Image Service and Management Tool (DISM) to check and repair system files. Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support

    - Creating a new user account is an effective troubleshooting step because it can help determine whether the problem is related to the entire system or just to a specific user account. Please follow the steps below to create a new user account: Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support

If the problem does not exist under the new account, the problem may be related to your previous user profile. In this case, you can try to repair or reset the profile of your existing user account, or continue using a newly created account.

If these steps don't work, it might be necessary to check your Microsoft Account settings to ensure the location there is updated. Additionally, if you're using a VPN or proxy, it could affect your location settings.

I hope this helps. If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely
