Windows 10: Windows 10 Installation stuck at 52%

Hello. Installation of Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 8.1 begun at 5 am EST GMT -5 on 2014 ASUS Rogue Intel quad core i7 with 32 Gb DDR and Nvidia GeForce GTX 970. This is a free reinstall and the OS worked fine a few years ago. I actually uninstalled it because there was no replacement for the old Image Preview. Please ask the developers to bring back the functionality of Preview! I like having multiple file trees open!


PC is used for music production, video editing, downloading video, and programming Unity. Just before installing, I had a problem with corrupted cookies in Firefox. Clearing them worked temporarily, then I got some other error. Defender has never reported any malware or anything, which is kind of suspicious. Where do I put the quarter in?


So after initial install and reboot, load screen has been "working on updates 52%" for almost 8 hours now. The "working" indicator is spinning, but it hasn't budged from 52%. Does the amount of data on my secondary hard drive affect the upgrade? I keep my OS HD relatively clean to give program files plenty of elbow room. The second one is almost full, though.


Is there a way to interrupt update installation and make sure the download hasn't timed out? Why does Windows tend to do stuff like this? What's the point of displaying a progress report if it's going to fly through the first half then get stuck at 52% for the remainder of my career? Is it even at 52%? Do I get the other 48% from the same server? Is everything ok over there?


Thanks for taking the time to read this. I wish this installation could have been performed in phases so I could use the OS while it updates. Bring back Preview.

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
