    Windows 10 fresh install used up 151GB


    I wanted to format my computer and reinstalled Windows 10 so I chose "Delete everything" when prompted. Later it gave me the initial setup for user account, keyboard etc.

    Now that it's complete everything looks like a fresh install apart from 151GB of hard disk space used, system requirements state 20GB for 64-bit.

    Is this normal or am I missing something?

    Is it possible to move these files to my external hd, in order to free up the 151GB they are currently occupying on my ssd? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Win 10 Start Button - Microsoft comment?

    If your system was an upgrade to Windows 10 a fresh install of Windows 10 might be in order. Sometimes a fresh install will be better at clearing up issues.

    If you do decide to go this route be sure to backup your docs.

    Can you post a picture of Disk Management ? Also check for Windows.old folder.

    That seems to have done the trick. Removed Windows.old and some other temp files, now I'm down to 41.0GB used space which I can live with.

    You're welcome, that happens when you do system repair, it saves old files and settings in that folder.
