Windows 10: Windows 10 can't update to 11 due to 'insufficient' TPM

I have a HP laptop with windows 10 original 2014 I'm trying to update to 11 but it says TPM isn't enough. I ran pc health and tried the solution but the option in the bios isn't there? Upon researching I found that windows integrated the older models and the TPM is good. I think I know why I can't find the solution due to win 10 integrating the TPM and not getting recognized by system for update. The build is version is good. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get around the problem?

Don't know if this is the right place for this thread but whatever, laptop informed me that " a firmware update is needed for you security processor (TPM)," now, i looked up what to do and from a microsoft support thing, the last step says to clear the tpm. it has a warning saying to back up my data, i would like to know what clearing the tpm does, and what measures i need to take to make sure nothing goes wrong.

 

TPM and Windows 11.

No, it's not changed to 1.2. Windows 11 will not be offered as an upgrade option in Windows Update unless the PC has TPM 2.0.

What has changed, as reported in that article Samuria gave a link for, is that MS will apparently allow you to upgrade manually using an ISO on an unsupported device, and if it has TPM 1.2 then it is certainly unsupported.

Whether you'd actually want to install W11 on an unsupported device is another matter, when MS say 'unsupported' they really mean it in all senses of the word. That article goes on to say that: "..."unsupported" Windows 11 PCs won't be entitled to receive Windows Updates".

 

Windows 10 devices now requires hardware encryption/TPM

So from now on devices (OEM built) needs a TPM module. Relevant bit:

Pretty interesting, but there's tons of questions I guess. I don't actually now anything about how TPM works, just that it's hardware, meaning the key is stored in a physical chip and that the decryption has to run through this chip. But I have no idea how let's say biometrics is tied to this. Or what the implications will be, or what exactly is encrypted. The entire storage or just the log in details as such?
