  1. Windows 10 Audio service crashes

    Good Evening everyone

So I've got following problem, the problem is existing since about 3 months. When ever I watch youtube or play some gamesproblem doesnt accure on every game weirdly my windows audio on one of my 2 devices stops playing and I am not able to do a sound test. Basically after a while of waiting the windows audio service stops working and sometimes can be repaired by troubleshooting or starting it manually. I do not know if this problem is bc my headset has basically 2 in 1 audiodevices JBL Quantum One[one for game and one for chat] or if it is bc of a too old mainboard with onboard Soundchip.

    So about my system:

CPU: Intel Core I7 7700k OC

GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 super

    RAM: 16 GB @3000MHz G.Skill TridentZ RGB

Motherboard: MSI Gaming pro Carbon Z270 socket LGA 1151

SSD: Samsung 960 EVO NVMe SSD

    Headset: JBL Quantum One

Windows Version: Windows 10 Pro Version: 20H2 Bit: 64

So about what I've tried so far:

    1. Oc I did check all my drivers even updated my BIOS and made a system check run from the motherboard to make sure everything works just fine

    2. I uninstalled all my audiodevices including the drivers and reinstallen them all manually to be sure I've got the newest ones Still keep on checking them

    3. I tried a reinstall of windows which did fix the problem for about a week.

    4. I tried my headset on a other pc I have to check if I can recreate the problem which didnt work I had no problems on the other pc so the headset is just fine.

    5. I asked ppl that got the same headset as I do about the problem non of them knew anything of it and also never had it.

    6. I did a lot of testing and checking if I can create the problem while having the services on to check what fails first with no success it just took a while till windows realized that the sound service crashed.

If anyone has a good ideo what could cause the problem or what I could try out aswell please let me know and pls spare me with the usual troubleshooting and repair comments bc I've tried it a lot of times without success it does fix the problem BUT just temporary and I can easily make it crash again right after the troubleshooting.

I'm very happy about every help I can get cause I am out of ideas.

    :)

  2. Windows Audio Crashes

My audio stops working when ever a mic is turned on.

On login, audio output works normally, however, when ever any mic is used, both audio input and output crash and a red x shows up on the taskbar audio icon.

It seems the Windows Audio service is what crashes.

After the first crash, the audio does not come back no matter what I do until I restart my pc.

I can replicate this with the following steps:

    1. Login to pc
      • audio output working fine
    2. Open sound settings, opens to playback tab
      • audio still fine and also able to play test sounds
    3. Click on Recording Tab
      • The sound feedback indicator on the right side is missing
      • The window freezes, error window appears about DLL crash
      • If there is no connected or enabled recording device, nothing happens everything else seem to run normally
    4. Proceed to follow various trouble shooting steps
      • Some troubleshooting steps seems to get rid of the red x on the taskbar volume icon
      • The recording tab in the sound settings is also now accessible
      • However things may seem fine at first, audio input/output is still not working and playing a test sound fails.

    Solutions I've Tried:

    • DISM (ended with no errors)
    • sfc /scannow (found corrupted files, required restart)
    • Restarting Windows Audio Service (results in err 1061, service then gets stuck on stopping)
    • Disabling and re-enabling audio drivers
    • Reinstalling audio drivers from manufacturers site
    • Using windows generic audio drivers
    • Restarting my PC
As you can see, I've spent a lot of time trying to fix this issue and it is starting to get really frustrating.
