Windows 10: Windows 10 Audio only mutes when all other audio sources are muted.

Whenever I mute an app in Windows 10, the audio will still play as long as another app has audio playing. The YouTube video below shows me muting Minecraft, which will stay muted until I start the sound test for my headset.https://youtu.be/bKjd_Mi2rhsThe same issue happens if I switch which app is muted. I have tried updating Windows 10 as well as updating/reinstalling my audio drivers.

audio keyboard mute button stopped working, Windows 10

If I press the audio mute button on my keyboard I get a "turning blue" circle where my cursor is on screen but the audio from speakers does not mute. If I go to the speaker icon in task bar and mute from there the audio mutes.

I checked audio drivers, as suggested by MicroSoft, they are all up to date.

any ideas why my speaker keyboard mute button does the "blue circle thing" but doesn't mute audio like it used to? Again if I mute speaker from task bar speaker icon, it mutes.

Win 11 - Audio Mutes below a setting of 12.

Hello.

I am having a problem with the audio from my PC where when the windows volume is reduced below 12 the audio output mutes completely.

I use a Digigram VX 222e sound card to provide balanced audio for my studio monitors. The issue also exists when I use the application provided with the card where at a certain point the audio mutes. Below is a list of information I can give but I am not sure if any of it will be helpful.

PC info

Win 11 Pro

Build 22621

Mother board ASROCK x570 Steel legend BIOS Version P3.90

Ryzen 9 5900X

16 GB ram.

Sound card info

Digigram VX 222-Mic (PCIE)

Driver (Digigram) 5.12.0.4301

Other info

Using Digigram App it mutes below output level of -42dB so I am assuming that -42dB = 12 in windows and -52dB = 10 in windows.

Attenuation jump is large from -42dB to -52dB (previous steps 2dB).

Input level to the card from applications has no impact on the level that the output mutes always mutes below -42dB. Range -6 dBfs to -108dBfs.

App that provides the audio source makes no difference.

Things I think might help me.

Can I change the size of the attenuation steps in windows? currently

.5 dB steps from 0 dB to -25dB

2 dB steps from -25 to -42

10 dB steps from -42 to -82

7dB steps from -82 to -96dB

Can I change the attenuation range in windows for example make -42 dB output level = 0 in windows.

If anyone know what I can try that would be appreciated

 

Bluetooth audio from another source is interrupted even when windows sound is muted

I have a pair of Bluetooth headphones which can be connected to two sources at once. When one of the source sends some sound the headphones automatically switch to it, its a standard behavior in such a case.

Scenario:

The headphones are connected to the windows 10 PC (Surface book 2, the most recent windows version, but previous versions were the same).

At the same time they are connected to android phone.

PC sound is muted.

Music plays from the phone.

A notification comes on PC (any kind, let's say an email).

The music get interrupted and the headphones switch to PC input. No sound is transferred because PC audio is muted.

Obviously even though windows audio is muted it sends some "silence" signal over Bluetooth causing headphones to switch audio input to PC.

I would expect that Windows shouldn't bother Bluetooth audio devices with such signals when the audio is muted.
