Windows 10: window 10 'Scanning and Repairing Drive' stuck at 56%

Discus and support window 10 'Scanning and Repairing Drive' stuck at 56% in Windows 10 Performance & Maintenance to solve the problem; any help to fix this will help.......at present have decided to let it run for the rest of the day to see if it completes; if I switch laptop off. it...     window 10 'Scanning and Repairing Drive' stuck at 56%


    any help to fix this will help.......at present have decided to let it run for the rest of the day to see if it completes; if I switch laptop off. it comes up with a screen to say hit any key to stop it going into scanning and repair mode or clean disc.....but that does not work it redirects back to this......so, at present I just wait.......have not tried going into safe mode because font know what to do when i am in to that to fix problem.....maybe its to do with windows updating.....sometimes to goes into windows defender offline too....

    Just going to buy another computer and be done with it.

    Burned DVDs and tried using those discs (WIndows 8.1 and Windows 10) to fix the problem. No luck. I had also made a (32-bit) Linux Puppy DVD in the hopes that might work. No luck. Can anyone direct me to a good resource (layman terms) for changing the
    BIOS settings? I don't know what else to do. Thank you.
