Windows 10: Win 10, 64 Bit, Problem with Lotus 97 Smart suite install

The Lotus program had been installed on my 8 yr.old Windows 10, 32 bit desktop and ran fine. However a persistent BSOD problem led to its replacement. I have installed the Lotus program on my Toshiba laptop running Windows 10 and 64 Bit, and it works fine. My newer HP Envy desktop with Windows 10, 64 bit will not install the program. Only OS difference is the Laptop has windows 10 Pro, and the desktop has Windows 10 Home edition. First install attempt brought up a registry error. A reply to a query on Google was to run as administrator. This allowed me to install to the point of copying the files, but then came up saying not enough disk space available. Since I have 1.7+ Tbs empty, I do not think that is the problem. Any suggestions or ideas to get around this problem will be most gratefully received. Thanks

Will Lotus SmartSuite 9.8.2 work with Windows 10?

No problems whatsoever - Lotus installed and ran without problems on my Win 10 64 Bit desktop computer and Laptop computer. As has been stated - you need to run the install program as 'Administrator'.

The text doesn't appear as good as the rest of windows. Some other programs are similar so I presume they automatically run in a special capatability mode for older programs.

Try running a 17 year old program - or much newer - on a Mac!

Lotus Smart Suite 9.8 is listed as running without problems on Windows 10.

 

Lotus 123 works with all of the windows updates. Will it work with Windows 10? We have used 123 in our business for years.

Lotus Smart Suite which includes Lotus 123 installs, but none of the applications in the suite work.

I suspect this is because the apps are still using 16 bit code. Windows 10 64 bit does not include a `16 bit sub system. I don't have access to Windows 10 32 bit at the moment so I would not be able to confirm if you would get better results, since 32 bit
versions have the option of enabling the 16 bit sub system.

I recommend you stick with your current version of Windows if Lotus 123 is important to your work flow.

 

How much storage space is in the Toshiba? I bet you it probably is the Terebyte+ drive, creating an overflow for a program created before multi-megabyte drives were common.

My solution, go to the Toshiba, copy the files, put them where they belong. Try running the program then. That might work, if not well....I don't know.

 

You could think about installing a vm solution such as VMware and install a guest operating system from the era such as Windows 98 then put a copy of your files in there.

I have not heard the Lotus name in a very long time!

 

On the install.exe right click and set compatible to an older o/s a 97 software won't know anything about 1 tb
