Windows 10: Wifi Network Now Missing and new "Hidden Network" shown - Windows 10 Home

The wifi network I use does not show up anymore on one of several computers in my home. That particular computer is running Windows 10. Other networks are still there, like neighbors' networks, etc, but my network is no longer there, even though it shows up as usual on all other devices. Now there is a "hidden network" shown, and although I enter my wifi name and password as requested, it will not take it and connect to internet. To summarize, usual network does not show up, "hidden network" in its place. Computer not connected to internet. How do I resolve this? Thanks.

What is 'Network Name' shown as 'Hidden Network' for?

Yes, but not all Routers can let you hide the SSID.



Besides, I read that "SSID is a network name, not — I repeat, not — a password. A wireless network has an SSID to distinguish it from other wireless networks in the vicinity. The SSID was never designed to be hidden, and therefore won’t provide your network with any kind of protection if you try to hide it."

However, I think that Ethernet connection/Network has SSID.

However, when I merged them, then then the SSID became one for both.

Hi,
I sometimes see Network Name is shown as 'Hidden Network' in the Network _Settings taskbar.
I have remember that I only saw such a hidden network name' one time when I rested my router to default configuration.

I didn't take a screen shot when I saw that hidden network. So, to only let you see what I mean with 'hidden network' I also saw that time, I have taken a screen shot from the Brink tutorial:




When I tried to connected to that hidden network name, I was asked to enter a name to that network. I don't know who created that hidden network.

 

(new/other) WIFI Networks not shown

Hi there,

my laptop is run with windows 8

In the past I was able to connect with new/other WIFI networks (e.g. in hotels) without any problem. Now I discovered that only "known" WIFI networks are shown with which I can connect without any problem.

WIFI router works without problem (was able to connect with my smart phone and tablet easily).

I am using McAfee LifeSafe and checked with their hotline. Even after having de-activated all features of McAfee problem could not be solved.

What can I do that new/other WIFI routers/networks are shown again in the list of available networks?

In a nutshell:

- WIFI router in perfect function

- smart phone and table easily connected

- laptop doesn't show available networks also after having de-activated Internet Security software (McAfee)

Looking forward to your ideas. There must be something that I can change as it used to work in the past without any problem...
