WiFi Connect Automatically not working

Thanks and sorry to be so slow responding.

I have found a workaround that allows me to connect, and "stay connected" to my wifi printers. The main issue. I had my wifi printers connected to a different server than the ethernet connection the computer was using to connect to the internet at start
up.

Thus it appears that if W10 is connected to a server via ethernet and then directed to connect to a wifi network on a different server it will do it , but will not reconnect "stay connected" after a restart. I moved the ethernet connection to the same server
the printer wifi network is on and all is well?

I did get a chance to try your suggestion. I rewired back to the original configuration ethernet on server A connect to wifi on server B. In step 4 found a dialog box asking what type of trouble I was having. I chose file sharing and after a scan it reported
no problems found. I also tried "other" and it asked, "choose the program you are trying to use to connect to this computer". ??? I must be missing something since my issue is related to restarting not a program. My understanding of file sharing is allowing
a computer on the network to view files on another. I don't understand the phrase choose a PROGRAM.

I tried backing up to step 2 and choosing Printers instead of Incoming Connections. It reported a printer I was trying to connect to was not on the Homegroup ?? what ever that means?? but I allowed it it fix it. The printer then worked but after the restart
it was not connected again and I had to once again go to settings and connect to wifi B. The it works until the next restart.

 

WIFI Works, Ethernet won't

Please note, I installed the new Lynksis, it worked just fine for 3-4 days on both my MACBOOK PRO when in ethernet connect and the Dell, then the ethernet just quit working for both my MacBook Pro and Dell desktop. It did work, then just quit for no apparent reason. WIFi for iPhone, iPad, Andriod Phone, and when I set to wifi for my MacBook pro all work fine.

Detailed history: I first noticed that on my Desktop dell that is CAT5 ethernet connected to the WIFI ROuter, that it stopped, no internet access. I began to trouble shoot, and turned off my WIFI on my MAcbook and it wouldnt work either, plugged into same router but different cat5 cable. At that time, all WIFI devices still worked. I figured that it must be the ethernet side of the WIFI router, so I replaced the router with brand new one. the Lynksys N900 listed in original thread. Ethernet and everything worked just fine for 3-4 days. But then ethernet quit, but wifi still works.

Whatever the problem, it affects both my MacBook Pro and Dell with WIN 7. I'm guessing it is NOT a computer problem, if it is it is affecting both my Mac and Dell, separate cat 5 cables to same wifi router

To remixedcat, I don't know for sure how to check IP settings, see above post, no damage apparent to anything.

 

How to connect to an existing wifi network?

'Not connected' doesn't necessarily mean the WiFi adapter isn't working, just that you have not yet connected to an available network. If it is working then a list of available WiFi names should appear when you click on the WiFi icon on the taskbar which looks like this

when not connected.


If the list is empty then either the antenna is not connected to the WiFi adapter or the adapter isn't working. This may be a driver problem rather than hardware, so look in Device Manager for any yellow warnings. Also check that the WiFi adapter is not disable in Device Manager.
