    WidgetBoard.exe running instead of Widgets.exe?


    I noticed that suddenly I have a WidgetBoard.exe instead of a Widgets.exe running in TaskManager. Running the public release channel, not insider or dev. I have opened the Widgets Windows Key + W and when checking the settings and info there it also is called Widgetboard instead of Widgets. The version this is happening on is 524.28801.10.0. Other systems have the same version but have Widgets.exe running and don't read as Widgetboard in the info. I have scanned the file and it is signed by Microsoft and seems to be legitimate. What could cause the WidgetBoard.exe to be used instead of the W

    To assist you better, I would like to ask if you have installed any Antivirus in the Laptop.

    I suggest you to run the program in compatibility mode by following the steps provided below and check if the issue persist.

    • Right click on the “.exe” file of the program and select properties.
    • Under Compatibility tab, check the option for “Run in Compatibility mode”.
    • Select the Operating System from the drop down list.
    • Click on Apply and OK.
