    New Router

    I suggest that you
ask a question of your own
as tagging posts onto existing questions does not normally attract much attention in this forum.

For your question, I suggest you use a title that sums up the problem such as
Computer keeps losing connection to the router
    .

In the categories that appear underneath your question, I suggest you select Windows, Windows 10, Network & internet, PC.

In your question description, I suggest you split your explanation up into the following sections to help make the situation more readily understandable. Your existing posts have comments about symptoms mixed up with comments about other subjects and it
is all very difficult to comprehend.

1 Your equipment & its configuration [Dell 23 computer running Windows 10 Home/Premium 32/64 bit, connected to home(?) network through a xxx router with a modem/cable connection to internet].

    • Clarify the types of connection you have tried [LAN/WiFi].
    • Clarify which bits of equipment have been replaced.
    • Add a comment that your other [Win8.1?] computer connects to the router without any problems through its LAN/WiFi.

2 Any unusual applications or unusual software configurations.

    • You ought to explain Drive Support & CCleaner Professional usage or you'll just get people asking you to do so later.
    • Clarify your reference to Windows media center. It is not compatible with Windows 10.
    • I never stream video so I don't know if that involves any special configurations that could usefully be explained for your readers.

3 Exactly what the problem symptoms are.

    • State whether the problems are apparent only on LAN connections or also on WiFi connections.
    • State whether the problems are apparent if you connect to other equipment such as a smartphone's mobile hotspot.
    • Explain anything that seems to affect the symptoms such as, but not limited to, Windows update.
    • Explain when the problem becomes apparent [when trying to connect / after doing something specific like receiving streaming video / ...]

4 What rectification action has been tried and what effect it has had.
Avoid saying "did not work" or similar as that can often mask useful information.

    4.1 What you have done

    • Clean reinstallation of Windows 10 Home/Premium {if I understood you correctly},
    • Replacing various bits of kit [list them],
    • Resetting the router,
    • Setting the router up from scratch again,
    • Trying a different router.

4.2 Action by Dell - both what they have done and what they have said.

4.3 Action by Geek squad - both what they have done and what they have said.

4.4 Action by anybody else - both what they have done and what they have said.

I will not be able to help as I have never had any router problems so have not developed any expertise on the subject [I have never thought routers were either compatible or incompatible with OSs. I thought they were as independent as, say, USB memory
sticks.]. My router is an Edimax BR-6226n and it works correctly with my Dells. I have also used my phone's mobile hotspot as a router sometimes and it also works correctly.

    Best of luck to you,

    Denis

  3. New Windows 11 Professional PC not recognized by router with wired ethernet connection?

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

It sounds like you've already taken a thorough approach to troubleshooting the issue. Since you've ruled out many common factors, I'll provide a few more steps you can try to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem of your new Windows 11 Professional PC not being recognized by your router with a wired Ethernet connection:

    1. Driver Update and Reinstallation:
      • While you mentioned that you installed the Realtek Ethernet driver, it's worth double-checking if there are any updated drivers available from the motherboard manufacturer's website. Sometimes, motherboard-specific drivers can help ensure compatibility.
    2. Static IP Configuration:
      • Try assigning a static IP address to your Windows 11 PC. This can sometimes help in situations where automatic IP assignment is causing issues. Configure the static IP within the Windows network settings and ensure it's within the same subnet as your router.
    3. Network Reset:
      • Open the Windows 11 "Settings" app.
      • Go to "Network & internet" > "Status."
      • Scroll down and click on "Network reset."
      • Follow the prompts to reset your network settings. This will remove and reinstall all network adapters and reset your network settings to their default.
    4. Driver Uninstallation and Clean Install:
      • Uninstall the Realtek Ethernet driver completely.
      • Reboot your computer.
      • Install the latest driver you downloaded from Realtek or your motherboard manufacturer's website.
    5. Network Troubleshooter:
      • Run the built-in Network Troubleshooter in Windows 11:
        1. Right-click on the network icon in the system tray.
        2. Select "Troubleshoot problems."
        3. Follow the prompts to let Windows attempt to diagnose and fix network issues.
    6. Consider Another Network Adapter:
      • If the issue persists, you might consider getting a separate Ethernet PCIe adapter (a different brand) and installing it in your PC. This can help determine if the issue is specifically related to the Realtek adapter.
    7. Try a Different Router or Connection:
      • If possible, try connecting your PC to a different router or network to see if the issue persists. This can help narrow down whether the problem is related to the PC or the network.
Remember that network-related issues can be complex, and the solution might require a combination of steps.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

Why will my new Dell, windows 11 computer not connect to my router?

New Router - Windows connected to internet but shows not connected

    Hi,

    Apologies, for my late response.

The Problem is still there. I have tried all the steps including uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them. I think if I give you a brief background it may help.

My computer is what you call an assembled one with majority parts from ASUS (motherboard, graphics card, wireless card etc.). I updated to Windows 10 a while back and it has been working fine. Only issue I had for last month or two was that it was not letting
me install new apps or update existing especially Netflix one. I didn't pay attention to it. About six months ago, I updated my modem/router and had no problems.

Recently, I relocated and had to go with a different Internet provider as old one did not provide to new address. The new provider supply their own router/modem (Telstra). I set up the new connection through my Mobile as per steps provided along with
the new router. I did not have my computer with me at the time. When I got my computer, I tried to connect it to the new router. The computer shows my router in the wireless list and connects to to but shows no internet. But if you use google chrome or microsoft
edge they connect to internet even though the symbol at the bottom shows no connection. This, to me, shows there is a connection and some software issue is telling windows that there is none. As I use MS Office 365 especially MS Outlook adn MS
Word this is causing me issue as windows internal packages are not connecting to internet.

hope this helps you fix the problem

    regards,

    Bikram Singh
