Windows 10: Why when inserting a video in PowerPoint it shows like a black box?

When inserting a video in PowerPoint, it shows like a black box. I have Windows 10 Microsoft® PowerPoint® for Microsoft 365 MSO Version 2306 Build 16.0.16529.20100 32-bit. I can play the video, but I have to add a picture on top of the black box and use animation to exit before playing the video in PowerPoint Show.

To better investigate this behavior, could you provide the following information:

• Your detailed OS version and Office version. (PowerPoint>File>Account>Product Information)
• Please create a new presentation and insert a new video to see whether the issue occurs with particular presentation/videos.
• Please confirm whether this behavior occurs when you open the video with other player rather than insert and play it in PowerPoint.

I will add your video to the list, it shows now the process correctly. You could try using some other way to tell what you are doing, the WordPad solution is for the first quite lame and looking boring and for the second not very informative. Try PowerPoint, you don't have to buy Microsoft Office to get it, you can use PowerPoint Online or PowerPoint Windows App, both are free, to make nice looking slides. Make screenshots of the slides and insert them to correct places in the video.

Another observation: if you will continue without narration in your videos, you need at least show the text instructions more often, covering only the next step or two instead of that you write in your Wordpad in the beginning of the video everything you will do and the rest of the video has no explanations.

It looks better and is more informative if you tell the next step or two, show how it's done, then tell the next step before showing it, and so on.

PowerPoint Videos Do Not Work in PDF

I inserted an MP4 in Powerpoint using Insert/Video/Insert Video from this device and then saved the file and reopened it.

Although the video image appears as a static pic, a mouse-over produces the playback controls/status.

What is the reasoning behind saving as a pdf?
