Windows 10: Why is clipchamp taking up so much space on my windows 10 laptop?

clipchamp is 63.7 GB on my computer, and I want more space. I have 15.3 GB left on my laptop and I want to get some other apps but I'm worried my computer will crash. I am a youtuber and make some videos but, I checked on the internet and it's original size is 20.6 GB how should I shrink it down? should I put all my videos on a USB stick?

Why is Clipchamp taking up so much space on my computer?

I am using a Windows 11 laptop. I was trying to install a lot of apps (50 GB in total) when I realized I didn't have enough space for them in my main drive. I opened Settings, and went to System>Storage. I was surprised when I saw that 91 GB of space was due to apps. I clicked on Sort by: Size, and Clipchamp was the first on the list with a whopping 20.6 GB of space. I can't clear anything from the app's settings, and I already did everything I know, like deleting the projects I already finished in Clipchamp, but it was no help. It says the app itself takes up 7 MB, but the data in it is 20 GB. How do I reset the app back to its normal size, or at least free up some space?

If you’re encountering issues, here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:

1. End Task and Relaunch:
   
   • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
     
   • In the Processes tab, right-click on Clipchamp and select End task.
     
2. Repair or Reset:
   
   • Go to Settings (press Win + I) and choose Apps.
     
   • Find and click on Clipchamp, then select Advanced options.
     
3. Close Unnecessary Programs:
   
   • Close any other unnecessary programs on your PC that might interfere with Clipchamp’s performance.
     
4. Try using another device:
   
   • Try using another device and check if the issue persists.

Clipchamp "takes too long"

First, we are sorry for the late reply. Then, based on your description in the post, we understand that your problem is loading the Media file halfway and then it suddenly crashes, and you also mentioned that this problem occurs whether it is edge,chrome or Clipchamp.

You can check the suffixes of the files supported by Clipchamp, the speed of the import should not be too low when importing files with these suffixes, so we would like to know if the suffix of the media file you want to import corresponds to it, and what its size is.



But this is only one aspect of our analysis, as you also mentioned, waiting for 30 minutes and still no result, then the possible reason is not in the file itself, then you can also try the following steps to troubleshoot the cause of the problem:

• Try clearing the cookies from the Clipchamp website and then reloading it. This is done by clicking on the three dots at the top of your browser ... , then select Settings > Cookies and site premissions > Cookies and Site data > see All Cookies and site data > type Clipchamp in the search box on the top right and clear all its cookies.
