  1. Why does valorant cause my pc to restart?

So this just started happening, my pc will restart every time I try to play Valorant it usually takes 2-5 minutes meaning I am able to load the game up and I can even enter a game or the range but then it restarts. I play call of duty, Rust, Fortnite, and Madden all with no problems its only Valorant that it does this with. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Valorant that did not fix it. My friend and I tested my ram as well. I have attached a screenshot of my reliability history where it shows it windows crashed and I would link the minidump with it I just don't know how to in this foru

    :)

    PC Restarts when playing Valorant

    Hi AquaChris645,

Sorry, I was offline, that minidump file lists the usual driver with Valorant crashing, it is the driver on the Vanguard anti-cheat game engine cauisng that.

But that is most likely not the cause of the new problem.

Completely remove the current graphics card device driver using the widely available free DDU utility, then restart your PC and go to the support page for your PC on the manufacturer's website to download and install their recommended version of the graphics card device driver.

A slightly older version of that driver is more stable than the latest version.

PC Blue screens after opening Valorant, programs freeze after wake

    I have 2 problems:

    1. My computer has blue screens every time I launch Valorant for the first time.
      • Since my computer has been freezing, I've shut it down whenever I leave my desk.
      • After launching Valorant, my computer's blue screens
      • When I restart, Valorant launches normally for the rest of that session
      • Once I shut my computer down manually, Valorant BSODs me on the next open
    2. My computer ALWAYS freezes after waking up from sleep or hibernation. My mouse can still move, all programs are frozen, however. Oddly enough, I can still pause/resume my music on Spotify and hear it. It seems like every program doesn't update the visuals only. I also disconnect from any discord call. To prevent this, I have to shut down my PC.

Some things I have already tried:

    • Powershell commands
    • Editing my power plan
    • Restarting
    • Downloading windows updates
    • Using windows troubleshooter
    • Turning off hardware acceleration

Please help! This has been annoying me since early last year, and it's getting worse. I will try every method that you suggest, please reply if I ask for clarification!

  4. Why does valorant cause my pc to restart?

monitor goes black and restarts my pc when i try to play valorant

    Hello, Saint Meow

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble playing Valorant. It sounds like you’ve tried a lot of possible solutions, but none of them worked. I appreciate your patience and persistence. Based on the information you provided, I have some suggestions that might help you fix the black screen issue. Please note that these are not guaranteed to work, but they are worth a try.

One possible cause of the black screen issue is a conflict between Valorant and your antivirus software. Some antivirus programs may block or interfere with Valorant’s files, causing the game to crash or freeze. To prevent this, you can try temporarily disabling your antivirus software before launching Valorant. You can also add Valorant and its folder to your antivirus’s exception list, so that it won’t scan or block them. Remember to turn on the antivirus later.

Another possible cause of the black screen issue is a corrupted or missing game file. Sometimes, the game files may get damaged or deleted due to various reasons, such as power outages, disk errors, or malware infections. To fix this, you can try running the Riot Games Client’s repair tool, which will scan and repair any corrupted or missing game files.

A third possible cause of the black screen issue is an incompatible display mode. Some players reported that switching between windowed mode and fullscreen mode helped them resolve the black screen issue. This will allow you to switch between the windowed mode and fullscreen mode.

A fourth possible cause of the black screen issue is a problem with your DirectX version. DirectX is a set of software components that allow games and other applications to interact with your hardware, such as your graphics card, mouse, keyboard, and speakers. If your DirectX version is outdated or corrupted, it may cause Valorant to crash or freeze. To fix this, you can try updating your DirectX version to the latest one available for your Windows version.

Besides, some users have reported that Vanguard interferes with computer processes and can cause high CPU usage, leading to system freezes and restarts. You could try temporarily disabling Vanguard to see if that resolves the issue.

Some other possible causes of the issue include CPU overheating, a faulty power supply, crashes due to overclocking, or running out of GPU memory. You could try monitoring your CPU temperature and checking your power supply to see if either of those are causing the problem.
