I am not sure when this started but I tried to open the games I have a they started lagging. I checked my task manager and it showed that the apps were taking up so much more CPU then they normally would take up. I have tried to update my pc and that didn't work.

geforce experience takes an age to load..

Well that's why I asked. Mine is on SSD and takes 11 seconds. Your list of games will not appear if it has not checkd for updated suggested settings for awhile until it checks.

When it says it is refreshing the game list, it is checking, because NVIDIA periodically updates suggested settings. Plus it will look for those for new games you have installed.

So, the less it is run, the slower it will be.

Update makes games take up entire CPU

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

To narrow down the cause we will require a few more information. Please reply with the following details:

    • Which update was installed on the computer?
    • What is the complete error message you get for
      srttrail.txt?

I would suggest you to post a screenshot of the Task manager to know which process is causing high CPU usage. Press
Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task manager. Click on
Details tab and then, click on CPU entry to align the processes in descending order and take a screenshot with all the listed processes.

Please refer how to include a screenshot
    in your post
    to upload the screenshot.

Note: Make sure you don’t capture any personal information while taking the screenshot.

Meanwhile, you can try the troubleshooting steps mentioned and check if it helps in reducing the CPU usage.

    Method 1: Disabling Service

Sometimes some service running in background can cause high CPU usage, we can try disabling the service and check for the CPU usage. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press and hold Windows + R key on the keyboard.
    2. Type services.msc and click on
      OK.

    3. Now, look for Superfetch service in the list and right click on the service.
    4. Click on Stop to stop the service.

    Method 2: Clean boot

To perform a clean boot on the computer, follow the steps from the article
How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

NOTE: Performing a clean boot will start the computer with minimal set of drivers and programs, to determine whether a background program or process is causing the issue. Some of the Startup programs will not load after
performing a clean boot on the computer. However, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after finishing the troubleshooting.

If performing a clean boot fixes the issue then, please refer to the section
How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot
to check which program or process is causing the issue.

    Hope it helps.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.

Why are my games taking up so much more CPU then they should.

    AMD FX OC'ers Club

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

  10. Why Is Windows Biometric Services Taking So Much CPU?

in Windows 10 Performance & Maintenance
Why Is Windows Biometric Services Taking So Much CPU?: When I start my laptop, it comes up just fine. But then Windows Biometric Services starts taking 18% of the CPU and stays there until I end the task manually. I have reloaded the Biometric driver, but the issue persists. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks 131522
