Windows 10: When I start up windows the resolution of my Samsung SyncMaster 2494hs frequently changes...

The native resolution of the monitor is 1080x1920. I've been using the 'RESIZE' function of NVIDIA control panel to adjust this when windows has launched, but at some point during using the PC, I'll load a game, Netflix, a program, and then suddenly the 1920x1080 resolution becomes too large for the monitor and I must resize it to 1842x1026. This causes other problems such as slightly blurred text etc. This resolution will stick until the PC is shutdown/restarted where upon the 1842x1026 resolution is too small for the monitor and must be resized back up to 1920x1080.

Its not a major issues, just annoying!

Display drivers are up to date, MOBO at latest update, Windows fully updated. HDMI cable from monitor is plugged into GPU.



I understand the monitor is getting on in age, could it be that?

Samsung has come up with a new 23.6-inch, slick and stylish widescreen LCD monitor, the SyncMaster 2494HS. This one takes a step forward in overall look and feel, going away from the rather plain Samsung glassy design. The SyncMaster 2494HS features a modern 1920x1080 16:9 wide resolution, appropriate for movie lovers, an exceptionally high 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 300cd/m2 brightness and a 5ms response time. Vertical viewing angles for this screen reach 160-degrees and horizontal angles 170-degrees. There are also two 3W stereo speakers built-in. Inputs include HDCP-compatible HDMI, DVI-D, and single analog RGB. The Samsung SyncMaster will go on sale in mid-December in Japan for around 40,000 yen ($423).

Samsung "SyncMaster 2243SN"

The "SyncMaster 2243SN" recommended resolution is 1920x1080 60Hz. My laptop (HP 2230s) uses windows 10 Home (previously it was Win 7). When switching from a laptop screen to a monitor ("SyncMaster 2243SN"), I can not set the recommended resolution. At
Samsung there is no support for this type. What can I do? Please help.

 

Samsung SyncMaster T260 driver not working in Windows 10


I don't know what else to say other than what's in the title, really. I had everything working perfectly since Wednesday afternoon, then this evening I rebooted and 'poof' - there went my lovely 1920x1200 resolution, chucked down to 1024x768 with my PC no longer recognising the SyncMaster T260 and instead giving me the 'generic monitor' cow poop. Try as I might, I can't get Samsung's drivers (which are from 2008 (!) and say they're compatible up to Vista!) to work at all, they just keep telling me there's been an error and it hasn't worked.

I'm desperately unhappy that everything on my screen looks ugly as sin and I can't change the resolution. *Sad Can anyone help?
