Windows 10: WhatsApp constantly running in background?

Hi,I have installed WhatsApp on my Windows 10 computer, but the program is disabled in Startup Apps, yet when Windows initiates I still get notifications. This happens despite Task Manager not showing the WhatsApp program being active it's not in the list and I haven't manually started it either. How can this be? Is WhatsApp now part of native Windows applications with a hidden name that can't be turned off? This is quite scary.Regards,Andreas

Background applications

We understand that you don't want some apps to run on the background of your computer. What we suggest is to
control which apps are allowed to run in the background. To see which apps have permission, just follow the below steps:

• Open the Start menu or Start screen and select “Settings.”
• Click or tap the “Privacy” icon in the Settings.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select “Background apps.”
  
• You’ll see a list of apps that have permission to run in the background with an “On/Off” toggle.

Just bear in mind that, apps normally run in the background to update their live tiles, download new data, and receive notifications. If you want an app to continue performing these functions, you should allow it to continue running in
the background.

skype constantly running in background using a lot of ram

skype constantly running in background using a lot of ram, messing up my music production work, i am getting underruns in my daw because of skype running in background, while i thought i had removed skype from my pc and it keeps showing up in the task
manager................... please explain.

when i close skype in task manage suddenly my pc runs much more smooth in the daw -_-

edit; tnx for the reply guys i just saw that skype was still in the app list somehow.. dunno actually if it has reinstalled or if i didnt delete it properly but if this wont solve the issue i will edit this post again

 

Apps only run as background pocesses

To manage background apps in Windows 10, you can follow these steps:

• Go to Start menu and select Settings.
• Click on Privacy on the Settings window.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select Background apps.
• You’ll see a list of apps that have permission to run in the background with an
  On/Off toggle.
