    Task manager App History tab

Hi, In task manager on the app history tab I have a listing called Uninstalled Processes. In has used about 58 minutes of Cpu time since I cleared the history about a week ago. Any Idea how I can find out what the uninstalled processes are or any info on this at all.. Thanks...

  3. High level of data usage in uninstalled processes on PC

    Hello clang20,

Thank you for using Microsoft products and posting to the community.

We fully understand the inconvenience the issue has caused and that the current situation can be frustrating. "Uninstalled processes" in the App History section of Task Manager refers to the list of applications or processes that were previously installed on your computer but have been uninstalled or removed since then.

When you uninstall an application from your computer, its associated processes should terminate and no longer run in the background. However, in some cases, remnants of the uninstalled application's processes may still be present in the system, and they can show up in the "Uninstalled processes" list in Task Manager.

The presence of "Uninstalled processes" in the App History section can be indicative of a few things:

    1. Incomplete uninstallation: Sometimes, when you uninstall an application, not all of its related processes are terminated or removed properly. These residual processes can remain in the system and may appear under "Uninstalled processes."
    2. Third-party background services: Some applications install background services that continue to run even after the main application is uninstalled. These services might be responsible for specific functions or updates related to the uninstalled application.,

Also, I'm wondering if you remember what application you uninstalled? In my tests right clicking on the log should show you the "Switch to" option which will direct you to the possible apps, so if you could see this option then you can see exactly what apps are interfering.

The App history shows your app usage history since a certain time, as you can see from your screenshot it's currently logging since July 1, 2023 and I noticed that the uninstall process has a CPU usage time of about 7.5 hours, so have you briefly downloaded and uninstalled an app? If you have uninstalled an application since July 1, it will remain in the App history. For now you can try clearing the record and see if it appears again.

Or you can not clear the record first, and then observe whether the data usage of the uninstalled process grows every day, if there is a certain increase every day, it means that your application is not uninstalled cleanly, then you can observe whether there is any process that you did not run actively in the Task Manager - Processes. If the data hasn't changed since then, then it's really just a history of what was used and doesn't have an impact anymore.

Hope you are keeping safe and well. Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

    Sincerely
