Windows 10: What have MS changed in Photos?

It is preventing the opening of images as though it has hard coded to only give access to anything held on one drive. Changing to access all folders in Pictures legacy mad no difference.I could not view or open any images from a pen drive or SD card. Error message not implemented. I tried reloading the app and repairing and it would work once while the computer was on. I now have added Photo Legacy and it works? Probably only once I have no confidence.I see for many this is a problem, for me just over he last month.Why when you do an upgrade can you not warn people of changes and give them an

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

Windows Photos Viewer is an oddity; as I suggested, find a free downloadable image viewer you like, and use that.

I use a program in building my family tree- it lets me use an external viewer- simply whatever is set as default. Here you can see it displays the image in Photoviewer. I imagine Vuescanner requires you to specify the path literally.

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check the behavior:

• Go to the folder in hard drive.
• Right click on the photo you want to edit.
• Click on Open with and select
  photos (To open that particular photo in Windows 10 photos app).
• Make some changes in the photo and click on
  save.
• Now go back to the folder and check the if you see the changes you made.
