We had a power outage after a storm. The computer was plugged into a surge protector. I turned the computer back on and had a black screen starting check a few thing. After pressing f2. The final DIA was. No boot device found. Not sure what to do. Please help asap. I need my computer! Thank you

Surge Protectors are Surge protectors, a Power strip is a Power strip.

Never plug your PC into a Power strip.

Unless it`s connected to a Surge Protector *Biggrin

I use Trtipp-Lites along with Steren surge protectors.

I plug directly into the wall. But if there are lots of things plugged in I use a cheap power strip. In 25 years I've not had any surge-induced failures.

Surge protectors are a scam. If you in a location where the power is especially "dirty", don't fix your outlet with a snake-oil surge protector. Fix the house instead.

But most of us need neither. The civilized world has better power supplies. And products are tolerant of what surges we get.

Keep in mind that consumer surge protectors are products built around fear, uncertainty, and doubt. That's why they lure suckers in with their million dollar guarantees. (How could anyone collect on such a warranty? It's a sham.)

I have no fear, nor any uncertainty, nor any doubt. I don't need them. I don't use them.

Now ... the OP, pauli, claimed two years ago that he lives in a location where power outages are frequent. He tied up a thread on the board for a year before deciding which power conditioner to use. He met every suggestion with questions. He replied to every answer with more questions. So this thread might be just another fruitless pursuit.

It's not what you are looking for,
It's just about wiring computer, display, and other peripherals to wall power.
I use an old APC performance surge Arrest.
Off course there are other models, and brands

It's just a protector surge without UPS i plug to wall, with a 1 /0 on off switch.

One line is always on. even if you press switch on the surge protector
And the other line can be switched on / off.

Now i dunno anything about ups, just wanted to share about standard surge protector.
