    WD external disk cannot see in windows 10


    Hi,

    My old windows 7 is gone, so I just bought a new PC with win10 installed. However, it does not show my WD drive after plug in.

    There is what I did on some tests.

    Disk management does not show my WD drive either. I ask my friend with a win7 PC, it shows in its disk management, but no contents accessible. I installed WD utilities and SES legacy driver, then my friends pc working pecfectly with my WD drive.

    I installed WD utilities and SES legacy driver on my Win10 system, the result does not change, no disk shows up. I run windows update, after Windows 10 2004 version installed, it still shows nothing.


    So what is problem here?

    External WD hard disk not detecting with windows 10

    External WD passport hard disk is getting detected with windows 7 laptops but not with windows 10.

    All drivers are updated.

    Hard disk spins when connected but is not visible in disk management.

    Also not reflected in device manager.

    When googled the issue, i could find numerous such issues.

    Windows 10 just not reliable.

    It's obvious that updated drivers, change of cables, system restart and others have been already tried.

    Also tried working with all softwares that WD has ever released but no use. With windows 7, I don't need to install any software.

    Clearly it cant be fault of hard disk.

    If got any proper solution, do share.

    • Are you getting any error messages?
    • Did you try connecting it to any other devices and check what is the result?
