Windows 10: WASAPI Error in Snipping tool.

Lately, I’ve been encountering an issue with the Snipping Tool when recording screen and audio. After recording, I receive an error message that says: ‘Problems with recording audio. If an open app is using WASAPI exclusive mode, change it to shared mode.’ Unfortunately, the recording doesn’t include any audio. Surprising enough, this problem never occurred a few weeks ago, and I’ve already checked for updates. This specifically happens during Teams meetings.Any insights or suggestions would be appreciated!

Audio not recorded in Snipping tool. WASAPI error

Recently when recording screen and output audio using Snipping tool, at the end I get a sign saying "Problems with recording audio. If an open app is using WASAPI exclusive mode, change it to shared mode" and the recording doesn't come up with audio.

The strange thing is that I have used it some weeks ago and it worked fine.

I've checked for updates as well and everything seems to be in order.

Another thing to add is that when recording something like youtube it doesn't happen, but when recording a screen with a meeting in teams for example it does not come out with the audio

Please try this:

Step 1:

Click Start, and type Snipping Tool.

Right-click Snipping Tool from the search results, and click App Settings

Click Reset,

Click Repair.

Note: In Windows 11, there is no Snip and Sketch. It comes pre-installed with the new Snipping Tool (which replaces the old Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch apps)

Step 2:

Turn off Focus assist if it's enabled

Step 3:

Open Services.msc and make sure that the following services are set to "Automatic" and running:

• Windows Push Notifications System Service
  
• Windows Push Notifications User Service
