  1. Very High Power Usage

Several people have asked the same question or variant that I am asking below and it never really gets answered completely or resolved and then the threads are locked so no one can ask for more clarification or help. I wish Microsoft would help and address this. It is very frustrating.

I just got a brand new high performance workstation with a 4-core Xeon CPU, with a 950 watt power supply, and 64gb of ram. However, my system is lagging A LOT, when I am renaming files in windows explorer. I often have 2 to 4 explorer windows open to rename and move files around. But the wheel starts spinning and seems to take forever to finish and display files again. I checked task manager and it says that cpu and memory are both under 20% utilization only that changes a lot when looking at task manager. Many tasks says they are "suspended" in order to improve performance. Why is this happening? The CPU shows that I have VERY HIGH POWER USAGE. I am using a desktop, not a laptop. This makes no sense and is very frustrating. I had this problem with my old computer and so bought this new new in the hope for better performance. But it is STILL BAD.

Since my computer is very new, I have to think it is a problem with microsoft windows 10. Please help me and do not lock thread until you have some answers to try that make sense. I shouldn't have to do a clean boot to find out what since very few programs have been installed right now. I do have Adobe PhotoShop, which I know uses a lot of power. But with the computer and memory I have, it shouldn't be the problem. HELP ME PLEASE!!!

    :)

HIGH POWER USAGE WITH MICROSOFT EDGE

    Hi André, I'm Bill.

You could try resetting Edge to it's original unused state, which might disable whatever process is using so much power. Here are the steps you can follow:

    - Click Start and type "apps & features".

    - Select Apps & Features.

    - Find the app in the list and select it.

    - Click Advanced Options

    - Click Reset.

Keep in mind you'll lose customisation within Edge, so you might need to set it up how you like it again once you've done this. Hopefully this stops the high power usage, but if not, let me know! Thanks!

  3. Very High Power Usage

Under Task Manager, under column Power Usage, I often get "Very High" usage, which seem to cause a lag in my system. It does not matter what program I am using, it seems as though any program can cause the poser usage to go to very high, even the task
manager. My power supply is a 1200 watt but should not be causing a problem, but I am unsure. My question is, what would cause this? Is my system possibly over heating? Temperature seem to be ok.
