Windows 10: Valve Index display drivers wont start. Stuck in Microsoft Basic display Adapter

Plugged in my Valve Index. While the VRdisplay displays picture, when I attempt to change the refresh rate to the native 144hz that the display runs natively at my whole PC bluescreens with an IRQL NOT LESS THAN OR EQAL TO error. I have tracked the error to the display driver for the Index where it shows in the device manager as "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". I have tried unplugging and replugging it in as well as looked up to see if the Index has public drivers I could attempt to install on my own but no such luck.The Event in device manager shows asDevice PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_164E&SU

to install adapter, not supported by your device

the problem is cannot change microsoft basic display adapter, not getting full screen on display, also seeing a yellow arrow on the adapter in device manager, was able to get full screen when using win xp. how do i fix this problem,
I have tried numerous technique without success

display adapter's driver back to it's previous version.

Please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapter's category, and right-click Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, select
  Properties.
• Under Driver tab, choose Roll Back
  Driver.

If rolling back the driver is unavailable, update the display driver manually.

• In Device Manager, expand Display
  adapter's category and right-click Microsoft Basic
  Display Adapter, and select Properties.
• Under Driver tab, choose Update Driver.
• Select Browser my computer for driver software.
• Click the Browse button, then navigate to the folder where you place the downloaded display card driver setup file.
