  1. UVC Driver issue

    Hi,

I had a bad webcam connected (physically faulty),

Now when I connect same model with same PID number as soon as it's being connected in a software program (like AMCAP) it connects and disconnects the USB over and over again, very rapidly, once every 1/2 second or so.

The camera is good, works on all other computers.

The USB port on the computer is good, since If I connect same brand WebCam that has another PID (I do develop stuff using these cams thats why I have several types of same cam), it works.

So it's "simply" this PID that is faulty software wise in this system.

I have done a full power-off cycle where I really disconnects all power and let it be while pressing power button, no help.

I have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers over and over again.

In the events for the USB unit i get

Device USB\VID_05A3&PID_4689&MI_00\7&c6e899e&0&0000 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

    Last Device Instance Id: USB\VID_1415&PID_2000&MI_00\7&2d39258&0&0000

    Class Guid: {6bdd1fc6-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f}

    Location Path: PCIROOT(0)#PCI(1400)#USBROOT(0)#USB(4)#USB(4)#USBMI(0)

    Migration Rank: 0xF000FFFFFFFF0023

    Present: false

    Status: 0xC0000719

as it's a UVC unit using usbvideo.sys driver I cannot download drivers for it, there is no brand specific driver for it.

No option to restore point since I was forced to upgrade Windows the other day...

    :)

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

Webcam with USB UVC 2.0 driver not working after recent Win10 update to rel.1709

I have ASUS N550JK with build-in web camera (VID_13D3&PID5188&MI_00). Camera worked fine in Win10 before recent automatic update. After recent upgrade to release 1709 (Build 16299.98) camera stopped working.

It is in general not shown in device manager. Instead I got Unknown USB device with error message "Device not working properly (Code 45)" and "Device not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match" (but with totally different VID & PID numbers).

Several attempts to fix issue using standard tools (uninstall device & scan for hardware change with subsequent reboots), resulted in camera appearing in device list, but when I launch Camera app (native Win10) or Skype (both native & Win10 apps) it disappears
from device list immediately. Several times I got it working for an hour or so, but the image quality was so poor that it can not be used in video conferencing.

    So,

    • Camera used standard USB UVC 2.0 Microsoft driver. ASUS does not provide separate driver for this device.
    • After update it could appear in the device list as either USB UVC 2.0 (with correct
VID_13D3&PID5188) or as USB Camera (VID_0BDA&PID_5821&REV_0106&MI_00)
    • Removing device in device manager and than reinstalling doesn't help.
    • Rollback driver does not help (no new driver were installed)
    • Rebooting does not help.
    • Searching for fresh driver from hardware manufacturer does not help (manufacturer provides no driver and uses standard Microsoft driver)
    • All others shaman's dance not help.

Despite the issue is 2 years old, and that there are number of other cases reported with similar or other devices, so far no solution were found and root cause has not been disclosed.
